Flashback Friday: May 15, 1990 : For Sherry

It's Friday already, and as promised I have gone and found a journal entry for Sherry. She asked for May 18, 1990. The closest entry I could find was for May 15, 1990. Pretty darn close....

The 18th was significant for Sherry because it was the day she graduated from high school. I was coming home for the summer from my second year of college. As I look through my journals I realize I wasn't all that crazy about where I was in life at that time. I was having problems with school academically, not getting along with my parents...duh, and didn't have a clue about what I wanted to do with my life. Typical of a 20 year old? I'm going to post my journal entry pretty much word for word... you can laugh all you want, some of it is pretty funny.

Reflections.....

Well it's been eventful since last entry. I've made it thru my 2nd year of college.

Yes I survived switching from a small liberal arts school where I had many friends and enjoyed myself immensely to a large anybody can get in university where I am considered a freak of nature and only enjoy myself half as much.

I also managed to flunk my first class ever: College Chem. I. It wasn't hard to do. I should've taken baby chem first. I had no business bein in that class. So now.

Now I'm at home again for what is shaping up to be another wonderful, eventful summer at home. In Stuttgart. Can you please catch some of that sarcasm in a bucket. Thank you.

My boyfriend is coming to see me tomorrow. Yes we have managed to stick things out. He is an up point in my summer so far. He'll probably remain the up point. I can't wait to see him. We're going to go to Little Rock. Don't ask me what we're going to do. I'm still clueless there but being together again will be enough.

I have applied for numerous jobs... Top 40 Video, Video Gold, Cato's, Wal-Mart, and last but not least Mayflower. That wonderful grocery store we all don't know but love anyway. I begin to substitute teaching Thursday. I can see my teaching career taking off.

I went and drove around Stuttgart tonight. Very depressing. It's a very depressing town. Dead animals on the road disturb me. I'm glad my boyfriend and I are going to Little Rock. I need to get away. Already. I've only been here two whole days. Oh, well.

Such is the the life of Nan.

Now all of that was written in one solid block, no breaks or paragraphs whatsoever. When I wrote in a notebook that's how I usually wrote. I broke it up for you guys because it was just too difficult to read without some kind of paragraphs. I kept everything exactly the same except for the boyfriend part. I took his name out just because I felt like it. I don't know what it really matters... it is interesting to go back and read what was going on in my head when I was younger. The part about the dead animals cracks me up...oh and Nan is what all my college friends called me.

That was the summer I ended up working at the local drug store. It was also the summer I began reading comic books. The first series I started reading was Wolverine: Weapon X.

I actually had a pretty good time that summer.

This is fabulous! I have had so much fun reading these past few entries. It's great to see where you were at certain points in your life. Thank you and I hope all is well.

Meanwhile I was busy planning where to party after graduation, and with whom, and whowe could find to buy the booze! I had high hopes and dreams, but very little ambition. Nice blast from the past Nan, thanks!
