I have a couple of cool pictures for today's word: Bat
This one was hanging right outside my front door...you can see the doorknob just to the left of his wing.....biggest dang thing I've ever seen. I woke up in the morning, got my cup of coffee and started to step outside the door to see what kind of day it was and lo' and behold there he was. He was hanging by one foot on the left-over halloween decorations.... we thought someone had put another decoration up as a joke. But no...it was a real bat! He was about 3 feet long at least.
Here is his buddy. This one was hanging from one of the eaves on the second floor. Pretty creepy huh? We called animal control and the guy who came out said he wasn't touching these guys with a 10 foot pole.
We couldn't have anyone over with a huge 3 foot bat on our front porch, right in front of the door, so we had to come up with some kind of plan......

I would have messed my pants. That thing is scary. Great post for bat though. Have a great MM. :)
And the plan was? It is really unusual for them to hang where sunlight can reach during the day so your eaves must have been well shaded.
Great post for today.
oh my gosh - what did you do with them next ?
We had a small marsupial bat in my Father-in-law's kitchen at the farm.
WE chased it around for a hour to shoo it outside. Dang thing !
Eeeewwww...I hate bats. They creep me out!
So, did they just leave?
What was your plan?
Wow. I think that'd even freak me out.
Ian
that is so cool but I think I would freak if it was outside my window!! Great shots.
Yikes!
Animal control wouldn't do anything? That's crazy!
Happy MM!
Great information in your MM post! I have seen wasps on our porch ... but never a bat!
I thought of baseball in my MM post today.
peace, Villager
I am sure you invited them for Halloween, lol ! what a coincidence !and what did you do with them finally ?
Oh moly frijoles! I think I would have freaked if I walked out of my door to that. Not because I'm scared of bats, it would such a huge surprise. Here in Washigton State we have an issue with bats and rabies so I think our animal control would do something.
WOW!!!! I don't know what I would have done if I saw a bat hanging outside my door!!! I've never seen an actual bat before.
3 feet long? *shiver* Very creepy indeed! I'm glad we only have the itty bitty kind here in Iowa. At least I think!
Oh my. THREE FOOT BATS? That just gives me the heebie jeebies.
I am curious how the story ended.
Are you kidding me? Is this for real or is this a good Halloween Hoax? just asking...
