What is going on in Hollywood these days? It seems to me that the studios today are going for quantity and not quality. They suck in the masses with their flashy previews full of promises of great action, high drama, suspense...and then fail to deliver the goods.
I swear I am so sick of sitting down to watch a movie and then half way through being so disappointed that it doesn't even bother me to turn it off and go do something else.
Now not all of today's movies are that bad. There are some that still make the movie experience worthwhile. Some people may not agree with my opinions, but I think I have pretty good taste in what is or isn't a good movie.
When I sit down to watch a movie I want to escape. I want to be taken away and fall into the story. I want to get so involved in the story that I forget that I'm sitting in a movie theater or in my basement at home. Not many movies today do that for me.
What has gotten me on this rant tonight? Just finished watching "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" with Kenzie and Brad. Cool concept, terrible movie. The main character "Dave" was painful to watch. He was such a whiner you could hardly understand him...and Nick Cage...what a waste of a good actor. I like the funny Nick Cage, not the action Nick Cage. I could watch Raising Arizona a million times, but this movie...not his finest at all. There was some cool special effects but honestly that was about it. BLeh....capitalizing on a Disney classic cartoon and taking what could have been a really cool story and just letting it fall flat. BUT..I'm sure the studio got their money.
Now, on the other hand I watched another movie with the girls the other day that I really liked. "Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The Lightening Theif" Since I was watching it with the girls, there were several times I was interrupted or had to get up and pause the movie. Even with those interruptions I was engrossed in the story. The actors were decent, even a cameo by Uma Thurman. It was cute and entertaining. I want to watch it again without the girls.
I don't know...maybe I'm being to harsh.
On another note: It snowed pretty heavily today. I bet we got around 5 inches. Went outside around 10pm to take a walk down my street. It was absolutely gorgeous out. God is such a wonderful artist. I don't care how annoying snow can be, it is still so very beautiful.

What I Am Planning..and some other stuffage
I've been reading through this blog and refreshing my memory on what I had been doing before. There are a couple of things I'd like to start doing again.
1. Flashback Friday
2. Poetry Sunday
3. Food Thursday
At least that will give me three solid topics to write about on those days. Maybe. Ha! I seem to have a bad record of not keeping up with what I say I want to do....best laid plans and all.
Watching the playoff games with Brad. We put up all the Christmas decorations today. Got it all boxed up and ready to go to the barn. Taking it to the barn is gonna have to wait though. Brad can't get it down there til the snow melts. We got our second really good snow last night and today. Here is a video of the "white out".
Lyanna was sick last night. I was up with her til around 4 am. She was having issues at both ends. It was not pretty at all! So...we did not go out and play today. We had a nice crazy day inside!
I have alot of things I want to write about. I'm gonna try and list them so I don't forget. Maybe I'll get to all of them this year.
1. My trip home at Christmas
2. Our cruise to Jamaica/Gran Cayman
3. Following the Scorps this past summer
4. Being 40 for six months!
I think I'm done for tonight. Gonna watch the game some and put the girls to bed!

I got the I don't want to write Blue's
My friend contacted me over Facebook today and wanted to know when I was going to start blogging again. I told her I didn't know. I wasn't enjoying writing anymore right now. It doesn't bring me the joy that it used to bring. I can't really explain it to anyone. I like to write and I miss it, but the effort it takes to work writing into my daily madness of children, snow, dogs, dinners, taxiing, exercise, cleaning, and whatever else happens to pop up just seems too much.
I am writing now because I have already given my children a bath, cooked dinner, done the dishes, and my husband is "out with the boys".
Writing has always been cathartic for me. It helps me get my thoughts and feelings in line. Maybe that's one of the reasons my anxiety levels have increased over the past year instead of decreasing. (among other things) When you take a majority of what you enjoy doing out of your life it would stand to reason that your sanity would be a little off kilter. (Not saying that I'm crazy, but I AM a little crazy.....isn't that part of my blog's title? HA!)
So, Here I am writing. Let's see if I can do it on a regular basis and let's see if it helps me out at all.
The thing that is most on my mind tonight. Snow. I hate it right now. I used to think snow was pretty cool. Not so much anymore. I can not tell you the last time my youngest child went to pre-school. We have had so many snow days now I think we will be going to school til July. It wouldn't be so bad if there was something to do here, or somewhere to go. I could take the girls to the mall to play or to the indoor play area at McD's. The only problem with those places is that they are germ havens. Everytime we have gone to either place one of the girls has ended up puking her guts out that night or the next day. I really don't want to deal with that.
We have sledded, walked, had snowball fights, and made snow angels. The thrill is gone. It is beautiful, I will give it that. I'm just over it now, and need some distance. I think if it didn't snow again until next December I would be okay then.
I have cabin fever and I'm sick of having the kids here all day. They are driving me and each other crazy and I know I make them crazy too. I want my schedule back!!! And sunshine, I'd like some sunshine please! I'm putting in my order to God right now. An order of sunshine and temperatures above freezing on the fly! Let's 86 snow for the season.....

February Snow Day
Here is the snow we had on Sunday, today it is raining...go figure. I'm glad that it is getting warmer this week. I was tired of it being so cold and having to stay cooped up in the house. I know the girls probably feel the same way!

Snow Days

I haven't been keeping up: AGAIN! I get so behind on this blog sometimes. I've been working on other things. I updated the family website some: at least the front page. I took all the old photos off our photosite and put up just the more recent photos from about September 2006 to now.
I'm also in charge of my church's website and I've been working on it almost everyday for about a week now. Working on links and pictures and things like that.
Last week the girls and Brad were sick so that took up a bunch of time. I didn't feel all that great myself. Some kind of nasty stomach bug, but we are all better now.
It has been snowing off and on all week. Nothing like in the west, but very nice and pretty. We took the girls out in it for the first time. They liked riding on their sled...until it tipped over. Then they wanted to run around in the snow.

Lyanna felt the "wet" first and started crying like crazy, so Brad took her in and I stayed outside to play with Kenzie. THEN...after falling down about 10 times she started to feel "wet" from the snow. She started crying and it was time for us to go in as well. I have to say it was pretty funny when Kenzie figured out the snow melted. She stood at the door, with her arms sticking out by her sides as straight as she could make them, tensing up her whole body to where it does that quivering thing, and saying "WET MOMMY!! WET!!"
Our high temp today is supposed to be 10 degrees I believe. Whoo hoo! Finally feels like winter around here. The sun actually came out some yesterday but today it is cloudy again. Just feeling lazy. I need to go and clean up the kitchen and fold some laundry..ugh.

I like the "pink" look though. I can't find a couple of the blogs I was linked to..... if I'm missing you drop me a line with your link.

Monday Getting Ready for Christmas

This is snow from the day before Thanksgiving. I took this picture standing at our front door. It was very pretty, but the temperatures were down in the 20's. Now it is 4 days later and it is in the 70's again...no wonder we were all sick over the holiday. Everyone is finally getting over the nasty cold. Lyanna is the last of us. She still has a little cough, but as always has been smiling and laughing. She is such a good baby.
We started putting out our Christmas decorations inside the house. We put the village up over the kitchen cabinets. It looks pretty. I love the warm cozy feeling that the decorations give the house...at least to me they do. Brad loves to put them all out too. He wore himself out yesterday finishing the outside.
