Just a Monday

Have had two bouts of sickness this weekend. Friday night Lyanna was up til 4am losing it out both ends. Lovely... Last night Kenzie came into our room around 2am crying and saying she had a bad dream. I let her get in bed with me and she was burning up. Took her temp and it was 103.4. Poor thing, no wonder she had a bad dream. Gave her some Motrin and a cool washcloth for her forehead and lay down with her.
Her temp went down but ended up getting up and rocking for a while and telling a new story about "Mittens" the six toed cat. I think I got to sleep around 4 am again, but in Kenzie's bed so it wasn't all that great.
There was no school today so Kenz didn't have to miss a day of school. My wonderful friend Crysta took Lyanna to Mc Germ World for lunch with her little boy and some of our other mom friends. I was so thankful because Lyanna needed to get out of the house and play some.
Other than that..went to the grocery store. Big exciting day.

Now, watching the National Championship Game. Have to root for the SEC. Go Auburn!! That will be one of the only times you will ever hear me say that.

How many glowsticks do you think Oregon goes through? I really dig their neon green. Is there anyone else that uses that as a color besides Oregon and Seattle?

Swine Flu, Halloween and other Spooky Things

We have had an eventful week this past week. Lyanna came home from church last week and went right to bed with 102 degree fever. Welcome to the swine flu in Ohio... She ran fever for 5 days straight. It peaked on Thursday...up to 104.5 or so had to put her in a cold tub and cool her off. It's sad when you are happy your kids temp is 102. After the bath her temp came down to normal and then stayed that way. Thank goodness! Swine flu is rampant here in our town. It seems to give the kids fever and a cough for 5-7 days. Some of the kids are getting over the flu to end up with pneumonia. Luckily we didn't get that!
She got well just in time for Halloween night. She did miss her school party and family night, but we just didn't talk about it.

We had our 2nd annual Halloween party Friday night. It was a lot of fun. I was sort of a Elvira type character and Brad was a Pimp Daddy. We had about 36 folks over and had a great time.

Since the Lyanna had been sick and Kenzie got scared walking around the town last year we took the girls trick-or-treating at the mall. That was great! You just walk around the mall and all the stores have someone sitting out frong and passing out candy. There were no scary peeps and the kids had a good time.
Had Monday Night Football at our house tonight. My fantasy team sucks so badly this year. I can't win..no matter what I do... I can't win. It's pathetic.. I've been playing for seven years and this is the worst year I've ever had. BLEH!!!!

I Hate Fn Drugs!

Damn it, damn it, damn it! Expect more that sucks....

So...Kenzie has pink eye. I knew that was what she had Saturday. Luckily the doctor gave me extra drops the last time she had pink eye so I started giving her the drops Saturday night.

Tonight I start feeling like my eyes are itchy and I think "oh great, I'm getting pink eye now too".. the doc told me last time if I felt like I was getting it to just use the drops too....so I did tonight. Fuck if it doesn't have an anithistimine in it....

Unlike most people who get drowsy with an antihistimine I have the opposite reaction. So there I was at midnight, lying in my bed having hot flashes, my heart beating 100 mph, and with the shakes. I KNEW it was the eye drops but I was so messed up at the time that I didn't want to get up and look it up on the internet.

So now it's like 2 am and I'm up and typing and waiting for the drugs to start wearing off so I can settle down and go to sleep. At least I know I'm not losing my mind.... stupid ass drugs. Why can't I just be like most folks and get sleepy instead of wired.

Now I just feel sick to my stomach and all jumpy and shit. This sucks...

The Flu

I have the flu..it sucks. I haven't had the flu since my sophomore year of college. I have been sick since Saturday. That is 6 days of feeling like crap. Sore throat, fever, coughing, aches, pounding heard, congestion, runny nose...

My poor legs hurt so bad the other night, it was like someone had beaten me up. I don't have fever anymore and no more body aches, but I am sooo weak feeling and still not up to really eating much.

The girls are sick too. We finally ventured forth from the house today...to go to the doctor. They were still running fevers after 5 days so I was a little worried. They had ear infections on top of everything else. So.. antibiotics for them and hopefully that will push them over the line towards getting better.

This sucks for our Easter though... I don't even know if we'll all be up for going to church on Sunday. I had gotten them the cutest little Easter dresses to wear too. Bleh!

Being sick sucks!! As always...

We had an eventful night last night.... Brad is gone on Tuesday nights so the girls and I usually have dinner together and hang out til he gets home. I had cooked our mean, fixed everyone a plate, put Lyanna in her chair with hers....when Kenzie decided to puke all over the kitchen floor.

I am learning that with the very young, there is no warning sign or sound that a puke fest is coming on....it just comes. She is standing in the middle of the kitchen looking at me with the most confused look on her face and crying like crazy. I felt so sorry for her...and at the same moment I was thinking "I am sooooooo glad that Brad isn't here."

Lyanna happily ate her dinner while I cleaned up Kenzie, the kitchen, and myself. Turned out she was also running a low grade fever..so up on the couch she went with a cup of water and her "boo". I wrapped her up in a great big blanket because I was scared she was going to get sick again and I didn't want it all over my carpet and couch.....that would totally suck!

So.....an hour later, Lyanna is finished and I have to clean her up and THEN I can finally eat....not that I felt like it after all that.

Kenzie seemed to do alright the rest of the evening so...we did bath and bedtime ritual as usual. Around 11:30 Brad and I go up to bed, and I go to check on the girls....

I didn't even have to open the door before I could smell it.....ugh!!! Lyanna had gotten sick all in her bed. SO...I was up til around 2:30 cleaning, washing sheets, washing children, rocking children...and just plain ole worrying.

Needless to say I am a tired woman today. Thankgoodness it seems like this is just a short lived virus. No new sickness today, just fevers. Motrin seems to have kicked that in the butt and they both ate some toast around 11:30 with a popsickle.

Yay! I hate it when they are sick...

"Build a Little Birdhouse in Your Soul"

Birdhouse In Your Soul
By They Might Be Giants

Just when you think your day is the total pits God sends you a bluebird.... or four.

I didn't feel well last night, so I didn't sleep great. The girls were up unusually early today, so that means I was up early as well. I still didn't feel all that great, but I bravely set forth to meet the day.

Number one duty today: pay the bills. That in itself is enough to ruin a day, put on top of that, it is grey, rainy, cold, and bleh outside.

I was looking forward to my college roommate coming up this Sunday and spending about three days with me. We haven't seen each other since around 1996 or so, so this was going to be a big deal for us. PLUS it would be the first time my husband would be meeting any of my friends from my "past life". She had to cancel the last time she had planned on coming... so I was really excited that she was going to make it this time.

She called after lunch and told me she wasn't coming. She works at a hospital in Asheville and they called her in to work. The day was just getting blehier and blehier. The girls were supposed to be taking a nap...they were jumping up and down in their beds, turning the lights on and off, stripping down naked and throwing all the toys and their clothes out of their beds and onto the floor. I had to go up three or four times and try to get them to lay down. After dressing them again...It was just one of those times when I was thinking SHEESH can I just have one thing go right today!!

I was cleaning up lunch and looked out the kitchen window and there on the electrical wire were four bluebirds. They are the cutest little things! I had never seen a real blue bird until I moved up here to Ohio. Just icky old bluejays down south.

I get excited when I see a bluebird here because it's just so rare that it happens. Now here were 4 of them just about 30 feet away from my window. I attempted to get some pictures of them, but they are all pretty much blurred.

I took it as a little reminder from the man upstairs that my day is just as good as I make it. So quit being mopey, put a smile on my face and get over it. Sometimes I need a little smack over the head to remind me just how nice things really are.

Now I want to go out and buy some bird food and some of those cute little blue bird houses....

Here are my blurry pics. If you can't laugh at my horrible photography skills *or at least chuckle* then something surely is wrong with you!

The Good with the Bad

The past two days have been a mix of highs and lows. My parents were here on Tuesday from Arkansas. They had been up in New Jersey visiting my step-granpa. They were only here for the one day before they had to leave. Wednesday morning was tough on me. It affects me very deeply whenever they leave. I am extremely sad because I miss them so much and I know that the girls and my parents are missing out on so much by not being around each other more.

So...I was deep in the blues Wednesday morning. On top of the blues I am fighting a nasty UTI. The medicine I take for it is pretty strong and I feel naseous and icky because of the whole thing.

Brad called me that morning after my parents left and had an idea...why don't we take the plane and go to Colombus for dinner for Indian food. I hadn't been up in the new plane yet so I was apprehensive about it, but I knew I had to do it sometime so I said "okay". His Dad and step-mom agreed to keep the girls overnight so we could go.

Took the girls over to their house around four, got up and off the ground around 4:30. It was a beautiful day for flying. I had a pretty good time. The ride was smooth and the area is so beautiful. It was a short flight, only about 40 minutes.

We took a cab to the Indian Oven. Dinner was sooooo good, and we even ordered some food to go. Got back to the plane around 7:00 and we were back at home by 9:00. Very romantic evening. My blue day was made rosy. I had a wonderful time and I'm ready to fly again!

Today ended up being a crappy day. Unfortunately it is also Brad's birthday..I'm going to pretend his birthday was yesterday...we did a much better job of celebrating things yesterday.

Today I took Lyanna to the allergist. She is allergic to cats, eggs, and peanuts. AND..the doc wants us to treat her for asthma. We are at a loss and are feeling very overwhelmed by it all.

From what the doc said and from what we have been able to read in a short time, we have to get rid of one of our cats and the other two will become strictly outside critters. My oldest cat Helen would never be happy living outside so she is going to have to find a new home. It's heartbreaking for me and Brad. I have had Helen for over 13 years. I love her so much..but I love my daughter even more. I want them both to live happy healthy lives, even if Helen's isn't much longer.

We are going to have to do some things with the house as well...some of the carpeting is going to have to go, and I don't even want to think what the next trip to the grocery store is going to be like. The doc said NO EXPOSURE whatsoever to those three things...

Things are going to get interesting around here....

Being Sick Sucks

Well, it has been a tough couple of weeks.... since Thanksgiving we have all been sick. I did manage to get out of the house Friday before last. Brad, Steve, and I all went out for sushi. It was fun, Steve had never had sushi before and needless to say I don't think he'll ever have it again. He literally turned green and I thought he was going to puke all over the table. Hilarious!!

That was it for going out though. Been sick myself ever since. Both babies and I have bronchitis and upper respiratory infections. It sucks!!!!!!! We have all been to the doctor and have all been on some hard core cough medicine. I just hate seeing the girls sick.

I am kinda bummed out cause we haven't been able to do much Christmas shopping at all. We still have everyone in the family to shop for. We have the girls' presents pretty much done. It's kind of hard there too. What do we get for the lil baby? She already has the toys we bought for Kenzie last year that are just fine for her...this is going to be a problem later I'm beginning to see. We're going to have to buy two of everything -- like having twins. Oh boy! Things to look forward to.

I want to get a picture of the girls with Santa...haven't been able to do that either. Ugh..what a crappy time to be sick.
